After 16 years of serving the South Texas community as an evening news anchor and investigative journalist in San Antonio, Delaine is now just as devoted to serving the community in real estate. Her passion for helping people and her love for fine design and architecture led her down this career path, and she couldn't be more at home.
Delaine graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 with a Bachelor of Journalism. She's the proud mom of two girls, Layla, a civil engineer major at UTSA, and Malea, an aspiring architect and senior at Johnson HS. Delaine has been happily married for more than 25 years to Shad Shafie, a structural engineer, photographer, and former TX Longhorn football player. She is also the proud daughter of the late Jerry Mathieu of Corpus Christi, an electrical engineer, and the late Marilen Henry of Caracas, Venezuela, an artist, jewelry designer, and interior designer.
Delaine is also devoted to raising awareness about the need for blood donation. Her oldest daughter, Layla, was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has desperately needed blood and platelet transfusions to beat this disease. She's winning the battle - Layla is cancer free!
Delaine sits on the Board of Directors for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Foundation and serves as Vice Chair of Outreach to raise awareness and help save the lives of children and adults like her daughter.
