After 16 years as a trusted evening anchor and investigative journalist in San Antonio, Delaine now brings her love for storytelling into the luxury real estate space. The medium changed, but the mission did not: guiding people through important decisions with clarity, integrity, and care.

A proud Longhorn, Delaine graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Journalism (Class of ’94 - Hook ’em!). She’s also the proud mom of two brilliant daughters: Layla, a civil engineering major at UTSA, and Malea, an advertising student at UT Austin. She’s been happily married for more than 25 years to Shad Shafie - a structural engineer, photographer, and former Texas Longhorn football player.

Delaine is the daughter of the late Jerry Mathieu of Corpus Christi, an electrical engineer and President of Mathieu Electric Co.; and the late Marilen Henry of Caracas, Venezuela - a creative force in the world of art, jewelry, and interior design. That balance of logic and artistry lives on in Delaine's approach to business and life.

In 2023, Delaine’s world shifted when her daughter Layla was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It was a terrifying chapter - but thanks to her amazing oncology team at MD Anderson and countless blood and platelet transfusions, Layla beat the odds. She’s now cancer-free!
